       Organic silicone defoamer is a defoamer made from polydimethylsiloxane (silicone oil) as the main component, combined with emulsifiers, dispersants, stabilizers and other additives through special processes. With its unique chemical structure, it can quickly defoam and sustainably inhibit foaming in both water and oil systems, and is widely used in fields such as chemical engineering, food, medicine, papermaking, textiles, and wastewater treatment.‌

Working Principle

       The working principle of organic silicon defoamers is mainly based on the silicon oxygen groups in their molecular structure. When the silicone defoamer is introduced into the system containing foam, the silicone oxygen group can quickly react with the silicone hydroxyl group in the foam, such as addition and condensation, making the foam structure unstable, thus effectively eliminating foam. Specifically, its defoaming principle can be summarized as follows:

       1. Reduce surface tension: Surfactant molecules in organic silicon defoamers adsorb onto the surface of bubbles in the liquid, significantly reducing the surface tension of the liquid and making it easier for bubbles to be released from the liquid.

       2. Formation of molecular film: Organic silicon defoamer molecules can form a very thin and strongly adsorptive molecular film on the liquid surface. When bubbles come into contact with this molecular film, they will rupture and dissipate under the action of surface tension.

       3. Inhibition of gas diffusion and foam generation: the lipophilic group in the silicone defoamer will be adsorbed on the surface of the bubble to form a stable film, which will prevent the gas from further dissolving and aggregating into new bubbles, thus achieving dual inhibition of bubble generation. ‌

       1. Wide application range: Organosilicon defoamers are suitable for various media, including water, animal and vegetable oils, and high boiling mineral oils, which enables them to exhibit excellent defoaming effects in various systems.

       2. Powerful defoaming ability: Due to its low surface tension characteristics, organic silicon defoamers can achieve efficient defoaming effects with minimal dosage. Usually, a good defoaming effect can be achieved with a mass fraction of 1-75% × 10 of the defoaming system.

       5. Physiological inertness: Organosilicon defoamers are harmless to the human body and are commonly used in the food, cosmetics, and pharmaceutical industries because they have no adverse side effects on the human body.

       6. Environmental friendliness: Organic silicon defoamers have extremely low biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) and are environmentally friendly.

       7. Economy: Due to the fact that organic silicon defoamers only require a small amount of addition to achieve efficient defoaming, the cost of use is relatively low, and it does not affect product performance.
